Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. There are two mermen on either side of the ornament facing each other. Their tailfins extend towards the centre and overlap. There is a diamond pattern on their tailfins, filled with black ink. Each merman sits on a large scallop seashell. Their front hands hold on to a spiral that runs from their corresponding seashell. Their other hands reach out and hold on to another two spirals, which are connected by a black shape that has six of its own spirals, interlacing with the ones held by the mermen. The second spirals that the mermen are holding each have six black rectangles connecting to the top; each rectangle is filled with black ink, except for a white line down the centre.

Description
An account of the resource
The open tailpiece is centred underneath the text and is formed out of intricate Celtic knotwork, interlacings, and spirals. At its largest point, it runs the width of the letterpress. The ornament is in the shape of an inverted triangle. At the top, two thick outlines that give the appearance of a tree branch extend towards the sides of the page. Wrapped around each branch is a thinner-lined ribbon, forming a spiral in the centre. The thicker branch-like ribbons wrap down, forming various loops and spirals. Finally, the ribbons curve together at the bottom, creating a point for the triangle. Some sections of the background are filled with black ink.

Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. In the form of a wave scroll, the ornament shows interlacing ribbons weaving throughout forming various shapes. The larger pattern within the wave scroll repeats itself three times, forming three curved heart-like shapes filled with black ink. In between these shapes, the ribbons form trios of lozenges, using sharp lines which contrast with the rest of the curvilinear ornament.

Tailpiece
Description
An account of the resource
The open tailpiece is centred underneath the text. The tailpiece shows the body of a crab from above. Its body is roughly centred in the ornament. Small curved ribbons make up the centre of its body; the rest is outlined in black ink, with eleven filled circles. The crab’s legs surround its body, and where the legs overlap, the centre space is filled with black ink. Its pincers reach above its head, intertwining with each other.

Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. At the centre of the headpiece is a face. A large triangle shape surrounds the head, with a square extending on each of the two sides. The two squares are filled with a geometric pattern, comprised of sharp lines and triangles. The pattern within the large triangle is more complex. There appear to be two sections: the top is comprised of acute lines and triangles; the bottom section on either side of the figure have equal lines extending down, giving the appearance of feathers or wings.

Headpiece
Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. The ornament shows a human figure from the waist up. The figure has curly hair. Two wings filled with black ink, except for a curved detail left unfilled, extend from either side of its body. A curved shape extends from both wings and sits above its head, suggesting that this is an angel or a Saint (possibly Saint Patrick). The figure's arms extend out, each holding a stylized snake that appears to be hissing at the figure. The bodies of the snakes are knotted, with each section being filled with black ink.

Tailpiece
Description
An account of the resource
The open botanical tailpiece is centred under the text. The ornament shows two stylized flowers, possibly daisies, one facing the top-left corner, and one facing the top-right corner. Their stems intertwine in the middle, and reach both up and around the flowers, forming a heart shape. The centre shows five leaves filled with black ink. The central leaf reaches down to connect with the stems and close the heart.

An account of the resource
The headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letter press. While the headpiece is mostly open, there is a border that runs across the bottom of the ornament, but as it extends upward it morphs into the rest of the image. The headpiece shows a face at its centre. Sharp lines extend diagonally from the head, and intertwine with the border. On either side of the head are two curved shapes; the tops of these shapes curve and intertwine with the other shape on that side. Inside of each shape are six small circles filled with black ink.

Description
An account of the resource
The open inhabited headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. The ornament shows three human heads from the shoulders up. The heads are not identical: the one furthest to the left has long hair that curls when it reaches the shoulders, and is wearing a shirt with dots; the figure in the middle has shoulder-length curly hair, and is wearing a shirt with crosses; the one furthest to the right has shoulder-length hair that curls toward its face, and is wearing a shirt with small squares. Behind each figure is a double-lined circle, each filled with a different pattern, giving the effect of a halo or aureole.

Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. The ornament shows two stylized identical heads. The eyes and nose of each face are a continuous line. Each head is topped with a black hat or helmet with a curved side that intertwines with its counterpart, and reaches out to form a point; a part of each of the four shapes is filled with black ink. Arms reach out over each head, with interlaced fingers and the thumbs pointing up. Surrounding each of the two figures is a geometric pattern comprised of sharp lines, squares, and triangles.

Description
An account of the resource
The open tailpiece is centred underneath the text and runs the width of the letterpress. The ornament is formed out of a large fish on the left, eating a smaller fish on the right. The face of the larger fish is slightly left of the centre and is shown in profile. Curved lines reach out from the top of its head, giving the appearance of hair. The smaller sea creature is being engorged.

Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece is centred on the top of the page and runs the width of the letter press. At the centre of the headpiece is an oval face. Seven lines drawn in black ink curve out from either side of the head, giving the appearance of hair. These lines end in a geometric pattern that consists of various squared edges, lines, and crosses. A similar pattern appears both above and below the head.

Description
An account of the resource
The open headpiece, centred on the top of the page and running the width of the letterpress, features an anthropomorphic figure with outstretched wings. The centre of the headpiece shows a perfectly round face. The short, stylized body is in the form of a Celtic cross. It is filled with black ink, except for interlaced ribbon knotwork. Twoturned out fee feet extend from the body at the bottom of the ornament. The largest portion of the headpiece is formed by two wings that extend out from either side of the body. The outer part of each wing features symmetrical black lines, while the inner part of each wing shows small shapes filled with black ink that give the appearance of feathers.
