The headpiece shows two human-like grotesque figures at each end. Each figure extends one arm towards the centre of the ornament, where they touch. Their legs splay out on either side of their bodies. Ribbons extend from each face, interlacing and forming knots, before overlapping above their connected hands; these ribbons could be hair. A large spiral extends from the outside of each face. Each figure appears to be wearing a pleated, belted, tunic, and is holding a large fan, which forms the outer edge of the image on either side.
