Description An account of the resource The open headpiece is located on the top of the page and runs the width of the letterpress. At the centre of the ornament is a triangle with angular line patterns inside. On either side of the triangle is a human face, resting on a cross-shaped design. Wings extend from either side of each face; the wings begin with a curved pattern before extending out in sharp diagonals. The wings are angled, so that their tips point towards the top two corners of the page. Above each face are ribbons that interlace to form knotwork, each extending out into three points; two of these points reach out towards the top two points of the wings, and the third points straight up. The ornament is almost identical on both sides; however, there are small differences where the ribbons overlap. The insides of the knots, as well as spaces spread throughout the bottom of the ornament, are filled with black ink. At its centre is a human face. Sharp diagonal lines extend out from the face, forming multiple points both on either side and below the face. Wings extend from either side of the face; the wings begin with a curved pattern, before extending out in sharp diagonal lines. The wings are at an angle, so that their tips point towards the top two corners of the page. Interlacing ribbons extend from the the top of the face, forming two knots at the top of the ornament. More interlacing knotwork extends from the bottom of the wings, forming a point at the bottom centre. Two spirals extend out from either side of these ribbons.
